Join the fun along our woodland trail and see the Nature Center decked out for the holidays. There will be live holiday music, hot cocoa and cookies for all. Enter the Gingerbread Contest or just vote for your favorite. Search for hidden tomtes (gnomes), enjoy the storybook trail, play a carnival style game for a prize, and make an ornament. Visit with the Nature Center animals and meet our mascots. Nature Center merchandise will be on sale for stocking stuffers and gifts.

OPTIONAL GINGERBREAD CONTEST: Before the event, create a gingerbread style display with a nature theme. Work on your project solo or with friends/family. Name your creation and drop it off at the Nature Center (Dec. 2-6, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed on Tuesday), Sat. Nov. 30 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Sun. Dec. 1 1-4 p.m.). Pickup will be December 9-15. Materials may include gingerbread, graham crackers, fondant, candies, natural materials (ex. pinecones, stones, acorns), and recycled materials (ex. cardboard, egg cartons, bottle caps). At the end of the event, prizes will be awarded in three categories—Best Nature Scene, Best Reston Animal(s) and the People’s Choice Award (i.e. the crowd favorite). Winners will be notified by email.

Pre-registration is required for everyone in your party (except children under the age of 18 months) by Friday, December 6 at 5:00 p.m. Park on Glade Drive. Bring an umbrella in the event of rain. For registration assistance contact [email protected] or call 703-476-9689 ext. 3.
